Little Women

“We each are young, we each have a heart,

Oh, why should we stand thus coldly apart?" - Louisa May Alcott

After Meg feels ashamed of desiring to have luxurious things, there comes a period when the four sisters do not seem to care about their household chores and only want to do what they like. Their mother lets this happen to teach them a lesson that is well learned in the end, being that even though the work may be heavy sometimes, it is good, and lighten as we learn to carry it.

On the other hand, some of the things that happen after are that the girls make Laurie part of their group; they go on camping with him and his British friends, and Jo has a secret that she shares only with Laurie after he told her one of his. The secret concerns Jo's writing skills, since what she does not want others to know is that she took two of her stories to a newspaper, and soon she will know if they were accepted or not. However, something really dreadful happens in the meantime, their beloved father is injured and is in a hospital in Washington, which causes his wife, Marmee, to go to him right away.

The next thing that happens is chaos because, given the situation, the four girls are left alone in the house; Jo makes the decision to sell her hair to get money; Laurie asks Aunt March for help, and Mr. Brooke, who likes Meg, goes off straight to the hospital accompanying the mother. Besides, after they leave, there occurs something worse, Beth, the dearest sister, gets sick with scarlet fever while visiting the Hummel family.

At this point, everything was definitely a torment for the girls, since even the atmosphere in the house was not the same; it felt dreary and sad. Nevertheless, I already finished the book and I can say that after the storm, the sun comes out.
