As Old as Time: A Twisted Tale
“... Everyone is different. Each person has his or her own soul
and is master of his or her own destiny.” - Belle
“As Old As Time: A Twisted Tale” tells the story of the Beauty and the Beast with an unexpected twist, and as I have mentioned in past reports, this twist is related to the fact that Belle's mother is the Enchantress who curses the Prince. Therefore, I consider that most of the relevant events have to do with her, for instance, when she disappeared, when she made Belle have visions, and when the whole family got together.
I must point out that I felt identified with our female protagonist; she is a passionate girl about books. Moreover, every time she talked about them and the power they have to transport readers to another place, I could not agree more.
Apart from that, it is amazing how you can visualize the film in your head, at least at the beginning, and then, when the twist happens, you start to visualize things created by your imagination. Besides, I admire that the change in the Beast's attitude can be observed as the pages are turned; he went from being someone selfish to someone who cares about others.
On the other hand, I do not have negative comments about the book; I loved everything. Actually, I do believe that Braswell wrote a wonderful story full of love, mystery, values, among other aspects.
Finally, I would recommend it, especially for people who love the story of the Beauty and the Beast. Likewise, it is also worth noting that it was the second book I read by Liz Braswell, the first one was “A Whole New World: A Twisted Tale”, and, as I enjoyed both, I would definitely like to read another one.
