“There are all kinds of courage. It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends”
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first book of the most loved world of witchcraft and wizarding saga created by J.K. Rowling, with amazing stories about the new and young generation of wizards and witches of the Hogwarts academy. The story is focused on the young wizard Harry Potter (the chosen one) and his friends, Ron and Hermione. They aim to stop Snape’s “mission”, which was to steal the philosopher’s stone and bring to the dark lord back to life or that is what they thought. Throughout the book, a big plot twist occurs, and real intentions are revealed. Mystery, magic, friendship, amazing creatures and incredible fantasy included.
At this point, I want to recognise the fantastic job made by the author in this book and all the other works she has made. The way she takes the reader and transports them into the magic world, the special narration of J.K. Rowling in the important moments and how she describes all the scenes as much that you can feel what the characters are living. The story takes you and begs you not to stop reading it, giving some clues of who is the villain in history but not too many, keeping the attention and suspense when it is necessary.
I reckon that not everything is perfect because through the pages and in certain moments the author describes a bit too much the situation, making it “boring”. Also, the idea of the main characters getting into troubles in the school repetitively can tire the reader. This does not mean that these little things make the book unreadable or something similar, in my opinion, there are more good things than bad ones.
Mentioning all these features, I can say that is a good book, maybe not the best of the saga, but as a fan of the movies, it brings to me more facts, scenes and little things that are not mentioned in the films but that have a big impact on how you see the characters.
To finish, I highly recommend this book and all the others in the saga to young and not too young people; you can get impressed on what is not in the movies, and how everything is described in the book is something any Harry fan can not miss, and if you are not a fan, maybe you will turn into one.
